Cult TV show ‘White Lotus’ a design source for fashion, furnishings and wallpaper

Plains of Yonder Seattle studio inject their unique style into
three seasons of ‘White Lotus’ opening credits.

Art Directors, Katrina Crawford and Mark Bashore of Plains of Wonder and designed all three of the TV series White Lotus opening credits. Ninety seconds is a long time for opening credits but in a survey by HBO 75% of the audience said they watched it all. The sequences also went viral on social media and helped create the buzz around the show.  Plains of Wonder worked closely with Mike White, the series creator, writer and director to produce the moody opening titles in which the stories and the characters are embedded and clues are given about the plot.
Season One’s sequence (above left) was inspired by old Western credits. “They have this child’s storybook-like quality to them that’s like a portal into the world,” says Bashore.

Season Two’s sequence (above middle) was taken from fresco art in the Sicilian villa where the characters stayed. It is full of plot and character clues delivered with stories from ancient mythology.

Season Three’s sequence (above left) were inspired by Thai temple art and architecture.

The Emmy Award -winning composer of the themes for the first two seasons is Cristobal Tapia de Veer.

Plains of Yonder studio said they have been contacted by interior designers from all over the world asking for the wallpapers they have created. Mark Ashmore said “We don’t own that artwork, but man, if we did, we’d be in a whole ‘nother business.”

‘Severance’ cult extends to the keyboard used by the employees of the fictional Company, Lumon

For fans of the show, it is now possible to buy an exact replica of the keyboard that the employees of the fictional company, Lumon use.

The Atomic Keyboard  company made the MDR Dasher keyboard after a very successful Kickstarter campaign. They attracted 600 backers who pledged US$350,000, shattering the initial US$50,000 goal.

The design is based on a keyboard from the late 70’s and will be available from August 2025, although there is already an expensive waiting list for this US$899 keyboard.

If you have watched the show you know there will be some “Innie” fans who are buying these without telling their “Outie” partners exactly how much they cost.
